This began his lifelong love affair with singing, followed by his first live audience debut performing "Tutti Frutti" and "Johnny B. Goode" lyrics for his elementary weekly chapel service at age eight.
Vast Musical Repertoire
Randy has performed in widely diverse settings, ranging from UCLA's Hammer Museum, The Beverly Hills Hotel, John Anson Ford Amphitheater, and Beijing and Shanghai Concert Halls in China.
He has also studied and performed alongside exceptionally accomplished musicians, including pianist Tamir Hendelman, vocalists Barbara Morrison and Cedric Berry, arranger Michele Weir, and personally mentored by legendary jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell.
He won the National Anthem Contest in 2006 singing for a crowd of 6,000 at Claremont Colleges and preformed for the City of Claremont.
On July 20, 2013, Randy Taylor headlined his own concert—The Midsummer Night's Jazz Concert. The selections he performed are hand selected and represented some of his very favorites. He skillfully took well-known classics, along with contemporary material, and personalized them with his own distinctive mark.
Randy obtained a bachelor's degree in Ethnomusicology & Jazz Vocal Studies from UCLA in 2011, studying global musical approaches and theoretical systems. In May 2016, he earned a Master's in Business Administration (MBA with a marketing concentration) from the University of La Verne. Randy aims to implement both degrees towards advancing his musical career.
